Baldrige Glossary Quiz
The Baldrige Glossary of Key Terms originated in 1996 with 9 terms. Today there are 58 terms.
Q: Only two terms have been deleted permanently from the Glossary: Which of the following has never been deleted? a) "Key Business Factors"; b) "How"; c) "Value Creation"; or d) "Anecdotal"?
A: "Key Business Factors" survived only one year - 1996. "Value Creation" was deleted in 2007 after only a few years. It had mistakenly been applied to only Item 6.1 Processes and not to Item 6.2 Processes - not good. It also is not a mainstream Process Management term and met with strong resistance mainly from the business sector.
Q: One Glossary term was deleted for three years and then reinstated. Was it: a) "Innovation"; b) "Leadership System"; c) "Purpose"; or d) "Levels"?
A: "Leadership System" was deleted from the Glossary in 1999 and reinstated in 2002. It remains a mystery today as to why this happened.
Q: Which was the last of these terms to be added to the Glossary and not until 7 years after each of the others? a) "Process"; b) "Customer"; c) "Productivity"; or d) "Cycle Time"?
A: "Customer" was not added until 2003.
Q: Which of the following terms has never been defined in the Glossary? a)"Breakthrough Improvement"; b) "Continuous Improvement"; c) "Anecdotal"; or d) "Effective"?
A: "Breakthrough Improvement" and "Continuous Improvement" have never been defined in the Glossary of Key Terms.
